Help Ash Heal: Support for Urgent Vet Care
Donation protected
Hello, I'm Jessika. We are starting this gofundme to help us with the current veterinary expenses for our cat, Ash. There is a large potential surgery will be needed and with the current bills we have acquired, we are unsure how we would be able to make that happen.
On Friday, May 2nd, Ash, our 5 year old long-haired orange tabby, was attacked by our family dog, Taranis. We took Ash immediately to an emergency vet where wounds were cleaned and a chest puncture was stitched. The recommended treatment was antibiotics, pain meds, and at home care. Everything was made to seem like he had a pretty high chance of healing. Fast forward to today, Monday May 5th, we are taking him back to the Emergency vet and finding out (from a different Veterinarian on staff) that some of his wounds are more extensive and he has swelling in his abdomen. His overall health seeming to be declining. The plan for treatment for this visit, in which we went with, is a 24 hour hospital stay. This will HOPEFULLY help rehydrate him and give him the proper pain and antibiotic treatment via an IV. A surgical consult is happening during this stay, which has a high possibility of ending in surgery. This will depend on what they find after Xrays of Ash's abdomen are completed.
This has been a very stressful experience for my husband and I. It was also a very traumatic experience for myself and our 3 children as we were home during the attack. Asking for money to help with something like this is not something we wanted to do but with the possibility of surgery next, we are at our max emotionally and financially. Even if we are unable to raise anything, we hope to bring awareness that an animals 'prey drive' is extremely real. We never thought this would happen to us, but here we are.
