Help Ash Heal: Fund Their Residential Treatment

My name is Anthony Rogers. My wife Jennifer and I are parents to three amazing and brilliant children: Ash (Amelia), Elly (Elaine), and Ari (Ariana).

In Spring of 2023, Ash had a mental health emergency that ended with them in the emergency room, followed by commitment to an inpatient facility for a little under 2 weeks and treatment for eating disorders for a little over a month. This started the entire family on a mental health journey of discovery and healing that has taken its toll on our bank account, but has resulted in all of us becoming more mentally fit, communicating better with one another, and healing from mental wounds new and old.

Recently, due to a traumatic life event, Ash has found themselves beginning to relapse into a dangerous eating disorder. The slideback has been slow and insidious, but is beginning to impact their ability to function in their daily life, and the spiral is hastening. Due to the potential effects their relapse could have on their physical health, our therapy team has recommended a residential treatment facility in southern California.

This poses a large problem for us. Since the facility is so far away, we now have to consider flight travel expenses to and from the facility as well as overnight and food expenses for one parent while in California. Additionally, while insurance does cover some of it, we will need to come up with approximately $3,000 out of pocket to pay for the program. Ash's treatment will focus on trauma resolution and eating disorder treatment, and they may need to be boarded in the facility for up to 3 months depending on their healing, so these expenses could increase even more.

I hate asking other people for help or donations, but this is a situation that we will have extreme difficulty covering on our own, and taking out a loan or refinancing our home are not options we can undertake at this time with our finances already spread so thin. Please give this story a read and help us with whatever you can. Our kids are our life and I will go bankrupt if it means they get the help they need, but I would really like to avoid doing that.
