This fundraiser is for the family of Addison Grace (7), a champion giggler and master of silly, a princess among princesses, a tall daffodil in a field of buttercups! Addison is currently tapping into deep wells of courage as she and her family face a challenging medical battle.

 

Here is a summary in her momma's words:

 

"On Friday (9/3/21) Addison lost her vision. It started at school. No, there wasn’t an accident that caused this, she left home as healthy as a horse and throughout the day she lost her ability to see. Her eyes got very large and her lazy eye that you normally wouldn’t notice slanted in.

 

After arriving at the hospital she has had a CT scan, two MRIs, an EKG, a lumbar puncture, and several rounds of blood work.

 

Addison currently has several lesions on the right side of her brain and a couple on the left. We just found out there are some on her neck as well. We are pretty positive that she is having an autoimmune response to a stomach virus she caught at school on August 12. The main diagnosis they are considering is ADEM which is a one time thing that most kids come out of fully recovered. You can read all about it on the National MS societies website. The only way to truly diagnose this is by ruling out all other autoimmune diseases and MS. It could take three weeks or longer to get all her results back from the tests they have taken. I learned this morning that they are also considering NMO since her vision isn’t returning with the steroids. This is a reoccurring disease that requires a lifetime of treatments."

 

Addison's momma, an elementary school teacher, is unable to work while taking care of our warrior princess. Her daddy, a police officer, is continuing to work while also helping hold life together for momma, kiddo, and her two older brothers. With lost income and mounting medical costs, every dollar raised will help bolster this family as they move forward together.

 

We're not sure when Addison's sight will return or what diagnosis may come, but we ARE sure they have a whole community of love behind them! Thanks for your support.
