Help Arya Heal: Life-Saving Surgery for My Best Friend
Donation protected
Howdy, my name is Alex, and I’m raising funds to help my dog, Arya, get the surgery she needs to survive. She’s not just my pet—she’s my heart and my constant companion.
I first met Arya when she was just three weeks old. She was one of five puppies, and the moment I held her in my arms, I knew she was the one. I brought her home about five weeks later, and we’ve been inseparable ever since.
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have always either worked from home or been able to take her to work with me, which has only deepened our connection over the years—as many of you already know. We’ve been through a lot together over the years, and I honestly can’t imagine my life without her.
She’s the best dog I could ever ask for, and I want to give her the long, happy life she deserves.
“Arya in her natural habitat—curled up in a chair she absolutely insisted on claiming as her own. Tongue out, eyes glowing, queen of the campsite. This was taken on a recent trip to Big Bend.”
Last week, an ultrasound revealed a large mass on the left side of Arya’s liver. The vet believes it’s likely a hepatocellular carcinoma, a type of liver tumor, though we won’t know for sure until it’s removed and biopsied. The vet strongly recommends moving forward with surgery, and we’ve scheduled it for April 29th at Central Texas Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Hospital.
There are some hopeful signs that we’re holding onto:
• The tumor’s location makes it easier to remove.
• The assumed tumor type typically doesn’t metastasize.
• If all goes well, the vet believes she could have two or more good years ahead of her, and I’m holding onto that hope with everything I’ve got.
There are risks, of course. If they can’t remove the tumor completely or if they can’t operate at all, her prognosis will be much shorter. There’s also a small risk of bleeding complications during surgery due to the liver’s high vascular density, which in rare cases can be fatal. It’s a lot to take in, but I’m staying hopeful. I believe Arya still has so much life left to live and so much love to give.
The total cost of the surgery is $5,500, and I’ve already spent $1,100 on her ultrasound ($600) and pre-op radiographs ($500). So, I’m raising $5,500 to cover the surgery and any additional post-op care.
The surgery is scheduled and will take place regardless, but any support would greatly help with the financial burden and bring us peace of mind during this challenging time.
If you’re able to donate, or even just share this campaign, it would mean the world to me. Thank you so much for reading, donating, or sharing. Your support means everything.
With love,
Alex & Arya
