Helping Arya Return to a Better Quality of Life

Hello! My name is Nikki, and I'm...well, my cat, Arya, is in big trouble.

 

I was laid off this Monday (3/21) right as my beloved cat’s health took a turn for the worst. She needs all her back molars removed due to having gingivostomatitis, and it has gotten bad enough that she cannot eat anything but wet food put in a tube for her to lick. Even then, she is resistant to it. She is in pain, unable to eat correctly, and I would gladly go without food for her, but she needs the surgery to eat.

 

Arya Stark (First of her name, Queen of the Rocky Mountains, Diva of the Kitchen, Princess of the Perch, Watcher of Pigeons) is a 2-year-old female Domestic Shorthair Tortoiseshell. I adopted her almost immediately after returning to Colorado after living in Illinois for a few months. Living with a cat there convinced me that having a cat of my own would be good for my mental health. And she has been. Arya is my rock, the reason I wake up in the morning, and I sleep better knowing that I'll see her in the morning. She isn't the most cuddly of cats as she hates being picked up, isn't very good at sitting on laps, and runs from dishes being rattled, but that's all part of her tortitude. She knows when I'm feeling down, greets me every morning by pawing at my face, and welcomes me home by stampeding down the stairs while meowing. Knowing that she's in pain and seeing her go from a good weight to being able to see her hip bones and feel her individual spine bones has been devastating.

 

She was diagnosed with the disease about a year ago, and until this past week, she was eating and generally being Arya.

 

Arya will need all her back teeth (molars) on both her upper and lower jaw extracted at the least, which I am told will require at the very least five days overnight at the vets and up to 10. The amount I'm seeking to raise is both for the initial vet visit, the surgery and the potential fees for the overnight stays. Anything beyond will go towards Arya in the form of food, medication and further vet visits.
