Arturo Carrillo Valencia is a dear friend who is facing one of the most challenging moments of his life. Last Saturday, he was arrested by ICE and, within hours, was transferred from Minnesota to a detention facility in El Paso, Texas. Arturo is 57 years old and has endured unimaginable loss this year, having lost both his little sister and his father to illness. With no family left in America, he is now alone and in urgent need of support.
When I received Arturo’s call from Whipple, I rushed to his home, gathered his essential documents with the landlord’s approval, and have since secured all his belongings and his car at my place. Despite my efforts, I was not able to help him while he was still here. Arturo only gets 90 seconds on the phone, but I am doing everything I can to help him get through this ordeal.
The funds raised will go directly toward Arturo’s travel expenses needed to bring him home once he is released. Your support will not only help reunite Arturo with his community but also give him hope during this incredibly difficult time. Please consider contributing—every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference.
Update : my name is Will McGrath and I have since talked to Arturo
multiple times he has no money in his wallet they took all of his cards , he just has my number memorized. This money will go directly to his travel expenses home to Caborca Mexico from wherever they send him. As well as some money to help him adjust to his new life in Mexico. I have spoken with his brother and made contact with his mother and will get him everything he needs. He has a long journey ahead and I’m going to be there to support him as best as I can.
The money will go towards his safe passage home once he is released and giving him something to be hopeful about in a very hopeless situation.
