Artist Charles Washington has a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with the Motherland through an Artist in Residency program in partnership with Luanda- Sister Cities of Houston.
It will be a one month stay where he will be wholly immersed in the art network of Luanda/ Angola and develop as much intense research as possible during that period. His goal is to return to Houston and share his research and experience through new work, exhibitions, and events.
Charles has been an arts educator, mentor, curator, and connector for over 30 years in our City of Houston. He has worked diligently in many mediums, including upcycled art, to educate youth and elders to reach their own artistic potential, be aware of current events, and reflect on the African and American Diaspora.
