ARTEMPLE Foundation , a 501(c)3 non profit, is creating a community arts center for all ages that will provide the facilities, tools, arts education and mentorship to underserved communities in Chicago. The end goal is to divert life paths from crime, addiction, and suicide and point the community to creative and holistic avenues that create real hope for their future. We are asking for you to contribute to ARTEMPLE’S vision to empower Chicago's underserved communities by creating a permanent hub that fosters creativity, community growth, and civic improvement.

The Vision
ARTEMPLE is buying and repurposing a 35,000 sf church complex in Chicago’s historic Eastside neighborhood that will serve as a hub to the community. Through a robust volunteer initiative, we will provide art education for all ages, affordable artist housing and holistic wellness programs to a community where they are most needed. ARTEMPLE is about discovering the true potential of the human spirit, and pointing it in the direction of hope and productivity. Thereby, bringing real change to the community and ultimately, the city at large.

Facts.
In Philadelphia, the Social Impact of the Arts Project (SIAP), credits “the arts with preserving racial and ethnic diversity, lower rates of social distress, and reduced rates of ethnic and racial harassment... the presence of cultural assets in neighborhoods was linked with economic improvements, including declines in poverty, lower crime rates and increases in population (Stern and Seifert 2013). Our founders are acutely aware of the transformative power in these seemingly simple concepts as many of our own lives were spared through similar life opportunities. ARTEMPLE is raising funds to create a permanent home to facilitate and support the creative arts that will serve Chicago for generations to come. And we would greatly appreciate your support.

WHAT WE NEED:
Your contributions, in any amount, to create ARTEMPLE and support the creative arts that will serve Chicago for generations to come!
We estimate that it will take about $1.5 million to bring the full ARTEMPLE vision into reality. We have 3 phases planned over the next 5 years, with the 1st phase taking about a year to complete once we raise the funds.
The next $400K raised for ARTEMPLE is earmarked as follows:
o $140k-Renovation of rectory into affordable housing for artists and community builders
- $30k Kitchen renovation (for artists co-live space)
- $45k HVAC replacement/update
- $20k Update of bedrooms and bathrooms for rental
- $40k roof repair
- $5k Prep artist studios for market
o $60k- Church Refresh and space opening
o $200k Resurrect the school to support our vigorous programming plans
OUR PROGRESS SO FAR:
In record time, just 9 months we:
· Passed the rigorous selection process of the Archdiocese
· Awarded the opportunity to purchase the future ARTEMPLE
· Navigated purchase negotiations with the help of our amazing legal team.
· Began and are still conducting the arduous discovery process
· Recruited experts from all fields to help us determine if this investment is viable for our
mission and community.
· Established a federally recognized 501(c)3 charitable organization (ARTEMPLE Foundation).
· Created press and presentations for some of our closest philanthropic allies
· Raised the $420K for the purchase
Phew…. Quite a feat to have accomplished all this in the last 9 months! (Pats team on back..)
We have gotten this far strictly on thousands of volunteer hours, donations from our founders’ savings and closest cohorts!
We’re so proud to have gotten the project this far and are so ready for the next steps!
