Help Save Artemis & Onyx

I never imagined I would be writing something like this. Anyone who knows me, knows that my critters are my whole heart and I would do anything for them. I don’t expect much but anything will help.

Last night, two of my three cats, Artemis and Onyx, were exposed to lilies, a plant that is extremely toxic to cats. The flowers were kept in a closed room and were supposed to be gone by Monday, but somehow the door did not latch properly and they gained access. As soon as I realized what may have happened, I rushed them to the emergency vet.

Because lily exposure can cause sudden kidney failure in cats, they need to be hospitalized on IV fluids for 48–72 hours to protect their kidneys and monitor their labs. Acting quickly gives them the BEST possible chance, and I am so grateful we caught it when we did. But the cost of hospitalization for both of them is between $3,800 and $4,100.

Artemis was left outside as a tiny baby and bottle fed, I’ve had her since she was just 5 weeks old. She’s now over two years old and has grown into the most beautiful, strong little soul.

Onyx was around 4–5 weeks old weighing less then a pound when I found him freezing and starving in the middle of the night. He used what felt like his last cry to call out when he heard me talking. I will never forget that sound. I brought him home and fed him every two hours for weeks to nurse him back to life. He truly is my baby.

They are both my babies.

Right now they are hospitalized an hour away from me. It’s incredibly hard not being able to be with them, but I know they’re where they need to be to stay safe.
