Artemio is a hardworking small business owner in Portland, Oregon, who has dedicated years to providing yard maintenance services to his community. I have known Artemio and his family for over 20 years, and they have always been honest, caring, and generous people. On December 4th, Artemio was suddenly detained by ICE, tackled and beaten before being taken to the Tacoma Detention Center in Washington. This has been a devastating blow to his family, who are now facing an uncertain future without their main provider.

In their desperation to help Artemio, his family managed to gather what little they had to hire an immigration attorney. Tragically, they were scammed by someone preying on immigrants, and the money was stolen. Now, Artemio’s loved ones are left with even fewer resources as they try to navigate the complex legal system and fight for his release. We are not sure how Artemio's family will survive if he is deported, and the fear and uncertainty are overwhelming.
