Art (Mugs) is fighting advanced stage lung cancer that has spread to his bones, brain, liver and kidney.  It started with a sore shoulder in November 2020 that was treated with normal therapies, steroids/PT/anti-inflammatory meds.  When it failed to improve, an MRI revealed a concerning spot on his shoulder;  countless scans over the following week slowly filled in the complete picture.  Art has already undergone radiation for the most concerning tumors in his spine and started his first chemo/immunotherapy treatment Friday, February 19th.
Today March 1, Art has an appointment to radiate the two spots in his brain - it is called a gamma knife surgery, which they assure sounds scarier than it is.  He will need to have an MRI of his brain, to determine the exact size and location of the spots, a mask made that will hold his head completely still and then... if all goes as planned - the procedure.  They believe this will only require one treatment - as the spots are small - but we will know for sure after the MRI on Monday.
