My name is Arson, and I’m asking for help for my cat, Deku. We live in Downtown Seattle near the stadiums, and during the July 4th and FIFA celebrations, the fireworks were way heavier and louder than usual. It scared him so badly that he started hiding all the time and stopped eating from the stress. Because he was already a pretty chunky boy, his body started processing fat for energy, and that led to fatty liver disease. Since early August, he’s had an esophageal feeding tube after I qualified for a free placement at a shelter, and he has been slowly getting better. Even with that, the emergency vet visits and clinic checks have left me with around $6,000 in debt.

I’m doing everything I can for him, but this is also happening while my household is already stretched really thin. Most of my paycheck goes to rent, bills, and supporting my disabled brother, and my husband is also in the middle of getting disability-related things figured out. Right now, Deku needs to get his neck checked and treated because he developed an ulcer from moisture on the front of his throat, and I only have $3 in my account. The truth is that his recovery is uncertain, and it feels like a really hard uphill battle. I’m trying to prepare for the worst while still fighting for him with everything I have, because Deku is basically my son in every way that matters and I love him more than anything in the world.

Any support from this fundraiser would help with his current follow-up care and the vet debt from his emergency visits and ongoing recovery appointments. Because these expenses keep continuing while I’m also trying to keep our household afloat, recurring donations would genuinely help me stay on top of Deku’s care over time. If recurring support isn’t possible, one-time donations help so much too. I know not everyone can afford to help with pet care, and I truly don’t want anyone to feel pressured.
