Help Arrington de Dionyso Get Urgent Dental Care
Donazione protetta
UPDATE: I send extreme and humble gratitude to everyone who has helped so far. I write this as I am in Oaxaca now, two root canals have been completed and I have two more extractions/implants to go. I wasn’t expecting to get implants but I trust my dentist and he has made it clear that if I don’t do this now I will have very serious problems in the future. So I have increased my “goal” on this fundraiser because it’s an increased expense and I will have to return in five months to finish the implants. ❤️
Hello friends. I am artist and musician Arrington de Dionyso based in Olympia, Washington since 1992. I have an urgent need for dental work that is not covered by my insurance, specifically THREE root canals and capping on some lower molars. I guess I have a higher than normal pain tolerance but I have let this go far too long. If I wait any longer my treatment options will undoubtably become even more uncomfortable and expensive.
I have run numerous fundraisers for others in dire circumstances in other parts of the world, this is the first time I have had to use GoFundMe to ask for myself. As a professional musician with a rigorous touring schedule, it's been challenging to schedule appointments for myself over the years, I'll be the first to admit that I have had to neglect some of my own needs in service of a bigger picture, in always seeking to bring my music to as many places as would have me.
Unfortunately the reality of this situation has already impacted upcoming plans. I have had no choice but to cancel an upcoming tour in Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Sweden while navigating too many unknowns- not knowing how to pay for the necessary treatments and also anticipating that time needed to recover from three root canals could lead to a significant loss of work and income over this summer.
A friend joked that John Coltrane very famously had a mouth full of rotten teeth, so I could consider myself in good company! It's true, but he also died quite young. I am scared that waiting any longer to get my dental issues taken care of might affect my ability to perform on my instruments or even affect my ability to sing.
I have spoken to a dentist in Oaxaca, Mexico, where I have a good friend willing to host me free of charge. The costs of the surgery in Mexico will be around 15 to 20% of what I would have to pay here in Washington State for the work that is not covered by insurance.
I am humbly asking for any assistance you might be able to offer me to help with the cost of the surgeries, the travel and the recovery process including the income lost due to cancelled concerts. I am hoping the dentist in Mexico will be able to help address the most urgent issues first and that when I return to the US whatever else needs to be done might be covered by insurance. Thank you so much for reading this. I know to a lot of us the world seems like a burning hellscape right now, at least we have each other! Thank you.
