Chris Hill is my son, a dedicated Staff Sergeant in the Army and a recruiter who works hard to support his family of seven. Recently, their family faced an overwhelming challenge: both of their vehicles broke down, with repair costs far beyond what they could manage. With only a small amount in savings, Chris and his family made the difficult decision to use all their funds to purchase a used vehicle from a private seller in Indiana, hoping it would solve their transportation problems.

Unfortunately, just 12 hours after buying the car, it broke down completely. The vehicle was found to have major mechanical issues, including a faulty engine, broken thermostat, no heat, and an exhaust system that was dangerously clamped to the frame, among other problems. The seller had assured Chris that the car was in great condition, claiming his son, a Ford mechanic, had checked it thoroughly. Now, the seller is unresponsive, leaving Chris and his family with three non-working vehicles and no savings to fall back on.

Having a reliable vehicle is essential for Chris’s work as a recruiter and for his family’s daily needs, including getting his oldest child to work and school. On top of this, Chris has received orders to relocate from Kentucky to Oregon in September for his next Army assignment, which will require even more reliable transportation and resources. They are now considering leasing a vehicle, but even that requires a down payment they simply don’t have.
