Arlo is my 4-month-old kitten who has already overcome so much in his short life. He was found as an infant and taken to the Hawaii Cat Foundation, underweight, covered in fleas, and fighting to survive. Thanks to the incredible volunteers who gave him round-the-clock care and bottle feedings, Arlo began to improve. He’s remained tiny but strong, with an amazing will to live. When I saw his adoption ad, I just knew I needed him. After a tough year battling depression, Arlo brought so much joy and hope into my life. We were able to adopt him on Christmas Day, and from the moment I met him, I fell in love. He’s the sweetest little boy, always wanting to be close, and he’s helped my husband and me through some very hard times.
Recently, Arlo suddenly became very sick. He was lethargic and jaundiced, and our local vet discovered he was severely anemic and dehydrated. He was referred to VERC hospital, where he spent several days receiving medications, tests, IV fluids, and a blood transfusion. The vets believe he may have FIP, but we are still waiting for results. Right now, Arlo has non-regenerative anemia, and his blood levels are low. He’s home with us, but he’ll need ongoing medication, weekly bloodwork, and possibly more transfusions.
I am not one to ask for help, but we are doing everything we can to give Arlo a chance at a long, happy life. His medical bills have put a financial strain on our family, and any donations will go directly toward his hospital bills and ongoing care. If you’ve read this far, thank you for caring about Arlo’s story. If you feel moved to help us, we are deeply grateful for your support. Mahalo.
