Help Arleth pay for major thyroid operation

Hey everyone! I'm fundraising for Arleth Martinez, a 19 year old and full time Berea college (a no tuition promise institution) student, who recently had her thyroid and some lymph nodes around the neck area removed. Any contribution made to this fund will go towards her surgical procedure bills.

Arleth's thyroid needed to be removed as it began to gradually get bigger to the point that it looked like a very large goiter. However, after many thyroid biopsies, the doctor informed us that it was thyroid cancer, and her entire thyroid needed to get removed before it worsened. Along with removing the thyroid, the doctor had to remove some of the lymph nodes around the neck area to avoid the cancer coming back.

Surgery went well, and Arleth will now be in thyroid hormone replacement therapy for the rest of her life to keep vital functions in balance. Currently, Arleth is in radioactive iodine therapy (RAI) which is a treatment used to destroy any thyroid issue not removed by surgery and to treat some of the thyroid cancer that have spread to lymph nodes and other parts of the body.

Fue necesario extirpar la tiroides de Arleth, ya que comenzó a crecer gradualmente hasta el punto de que parecía un globo muy grande. La cirugía salió bien y Arleth ahora estará en terapia de reemplazo de hormona tiroidea por el resto de su vida para mantener las funciones vitales en equilibrio. En este momento, Arleth se encuentra en terapia con yodo radiactivo, que es un tratamiento que se usa para destruir cualquier bacteria o cáncer que no se haya eliminado por medio de la cirugía
