Dear Friends of Aristocat Charters,
As all of us are dealing with Covid-19 and “the new normal,” we at Aristocat, and the rest of the British Virgin Islands, are no exception.
Before these uncertain times began we were looking at our first great season after the devastation of hurricanes Irma and Maria. Most of the islands and companies have done an amazing job rebuilding and reopening their doors to welcome our beloved tourists.
After picking up our first “new” boat, a 45' day sail specific catamaran, in March 2018, to replace our boats lost in the storms, we decided to invest in a second identical sailboat in October 2019... AND, our seasoned crew returned to run it!
Last season started off as a promising one, until….
Mid-March the government put a halt on all cruise ships and closed our airports to incoming traffic. For us that meant that we did our last charter on March 20th.
The times that followed, we were introduced to a soft curfew, no gatherings larger than 20 people.
Shortly after that we were on a full 24 hour lockdown... no walks, no shopping... only essential workers were allowed out. We were asked to provision first for one week, then we were all allowed out for one day (spread out over 3 days), to re-provision for another two weeks.
The consensus was that our government reacted very firmly but fair and in all of our best interests.
Borders for now remain closed to non-residents and we are not sure when the borders will officially open to tourists.
But one thing we do know: This will pass... we are resilient.
We realize that we’re all weathering the same storm at this moment. But after a brainstorm session with the crew, we came up with with some pretty great ideas to keep our company and crew afloat.
As most of you can imagine, the running costs for a boat are pretty steep and ongoing. This includes docking, insurance, storage, and of course the crew we all got to know and love.
So we came up with a plan...
To generate revenue, we'd like to invite everyone who plans on visiting the BVI and sailing with us at any point in the future to pay at least 20% now (or more, depending on the three savings levels listed above) to lock in significant savings! This includes our guarantee that if you need to cancel at any time, you’ll receive a full refund, no questions asked!
You would be helping us tremendously by enabling us to take proper care of our business and crew!
We look forward to welcoming you on board and offering you a great day of sailing, snorkeling, and paddleboarding the beautiful waters and islands of the BVI soon!
Stay safe,
The Aristocat Crew - Scott, Brittany, Jorn, Kendall, Luuck, and Darcy
