Hi, I’m Arika. I came to St. Croix in 2023 for work, and during my time here I rescued a feral puppy, Sputnik. He was born in the bush, scared of people, covered in ticks, and barely surviving. Over time, he learned to trust and depend on me.

I’m heading back to the mainland and will be bringing Sputnik with me. Flying dogs off the island costs around a thousand dollars each. I’ve already paid for his vet care and health certificates, but I can’t afford the flights on my own. After nearly two years living on an island where the cost of living is 26 percent above the national average, I’m stretched thin.

He's come a long way and leaving my baby behind isn’t an option. If you’re able to donate or even just share this, it would make a real difference. Any extra funds will go to STX Ruff Start to help other dogs like Sput.
