Aries came into our lives in the worst possible way—as a 5 month old stray puppy who had been hit by a car and left with devastating injuries. Despite everything he’s been through, he has shown nothing but resilience, strength, and a will to live.

When he first arrived at my boyfriend’s veterinary clinic, Aries had a fractured femur, injuries to both hips, and severe nerve damage in his front leg. We couldn’t turn away from him. I work at a veterinary clinic, and we took him in to give him a chance.

His journey has been anything but easy.

His first surgery—a femur fracture repair—went beautifully, and he healed incredibly well. But his front leg was beyond saving. Due to the nerve damage, he dragged it constantly, causing painful open wounds, and we made the difficult decision to amputate.

Unfortunately, that was just the beginning.

His amputation site did not heal and completely opened (dehisced), requiring a second surgery to remove more of the limb. Even after multiple cultures and different antibiotics, his body still wouldn’t heal the way it should.

This past Friday, he underwent his third surgery on the same limb—a full shoulder amputation—in hopes of finally resolving the issue and giving him a pain-free future.

This most recent surgery alone is costing close to $2,700, and since the beginning, we have spent around $10,000 trying to save Aries.

We have done everything we can for him because he deserves it. He didn’t choose this life, but he continues to fight every single day.

Now, we are asking for help.
