Arielle and Mehmet are facing one of the most difficult moments of their lives. Mehmet, my daughter's husband, is in the US seeking asylum. February 4th they were celebrating their anniversary at Niagara Falls, after becoming lost, and reaching Canadian border, their lives took a sudden turn when they were followed and Mehmet was detained by Border Patrol and ICE. Since then, our family has been doing everything possible to support them, but the emotional and financial toll has been overwhelming. They have already spent all their savings on legal fees, and the costs continue to mount as Mehmet is being held in another state, far from home.

The funds raised will go directly toward legal fees, bond, and travel expenses to help reunite Arielle and Mehmet and give them a fighting chance to resolve his legal status. If the worst should happen and a judge requires Mehmet to self-deport, we may also need to help Arielle obtain a passport and the means to leave the country to keep their family together. Every dollar will make a real difference in helping this family stay together and navigate this incredibly challenging time.

Our family would be so grateful for any contribution to help safeguard this beautiful family from separation and deportation. This is a steep price for this family to pay emotionally and financially for not getting his legal status updated fast enough, while he still has 3 years left on his asylum and work permit.
