Help Ariel Guzman's Quad-Amputee Journey
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Amanda Calderon, and I am starting this gofundme on behalf of my uncle, Ariel Guzman. Ariel is 33 years old and is a son, brother, uncle, friend, and so much more. He is an alumnus of Lynn University and graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2013. His career and life were unexpectedly halted in December 2021.
On December 1st, 2021, Ariel went to Wellington Regional Hospital for flu-like symptoms. Within the next 24 hours, he was in the ICU and on life-supporting medical devices. His organs and body were shutting down rapidly. A few days later, he was diagnosed with Neisseria Meningitis. This rare bacterium is a highly contagious and deadly disease. The effect this disease had on his body was detrimental. It resulted in him losing his arms, below his elbows, and his legs, above his knees. As well as needing dialysis to support his kidneys and many other complications from the disease. He spent four months in the hospital at Kendall Regional Medical center, where he was transferred.
As of today, Ariel continues with extensive treatment and rehabilitation, including working on getting prosthetics for all four limbs. The help available to him is insufficient to live comfortably and cover all the medical expenses and personal needs.
We ask family, friends and anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Ariel or reading his story to consider donating towards his recovery and quality of life. Thank you, and God Bless.
