Hi all,
As many of you may already know, the sweetest soul, Arianna Smith, has been diagnosed with Advanced Stage Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Little background for anyone new & seeing this: Ari is a 26 year old from Rochester, NY. She currently works as a police officer for RPD. Right as everyone was celebrating the new year, Ari was getting a life changing diagnosis. After 4 separate Emergency Department visits, MANY phone calls and doctors appointments, imaging, biopsies and ALOT of blood work, Ari was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Working in the Oncology field, I can definitely tell you that it isn’t just chemo appointments. It’s follow up visits, lab visits, symptom management appointments, trips to the pharmacy/hospitals, special diet, many missed work days, wigs/scarves, special products within the home, life-altering image changes, second opinions, fertility treatments, home care, soooo much more. Cancer is a full time job. There will be many times along this journey when she will no longer be able to work, or have to take long breaks from work, due to the nature of her career as a police officer. Luckily, her job is incredibly supportive through all this! But unfortunately sometimes with all the added fees and requirements, it just isn't enough.
On top of all of this, it’s Ari’s wedding year! This September, she’s marrying her dream man, Gio. On top of battling cancer, she’s also planning a wedding. What a bad ass, am I right?
This is a life changing diagnosis. Ari will lose her hair, this includes her eyebrows and eyelashes. Wigs/microblading/fake lashes/proper skincare products/scarves/hats are not covered by insurance. I can assure you Ari has already reached OVER $5,000 in medical bills, wigs as well as organic foods to help keep the cancer at bay and put her body in the best position to fight this. A wig itself, which as a woman, hair is your personality, was over $4,000. Self image, and finding ways to still feel like yourself while battling cancer is so important, these wigs are lifechanging.
I set the goal at $5,000, but I know you all will work your magic and help Ari through this life changing process. Whatever you can do will help!! And she’ll probably kill me for making this. But let's help this beautiful girl kick cancers butt and not go broke doing it!
