Help Ari Overcome Financial Struggles Post Cervical Surgery

After sharing my recent struggles, a few friends of mine suggested I begin a fundraiser - so here I am. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a professional circus artist & stunt woman for a living. I recently underwent a surgery for a cervical cancer scare. (It was one of the most frightening things I have ever experienced) Now, on the other side of fear, I am happy to report that the operation was a success, and that I feel (mentally) stronger than ever before. Though I am not physically 100 percent yet, I am just so thankful that I am cancer free. (And that I had the courage to go through with the procedure)

I am six weeks post op now, and I have gotten the results back that all abnormal cells were removed, and that no cancer was found higher up in my cervical canal (which was in question) I had three separate excisions/pieces of my cervix cut out, and now my body is healthy. Unfortunately, my wallet is not in the same condition.

Sadly, my health insurance did not pay for the cervical operation, and, on top of that, I am now going on a month and a half of not being able to teach, train normally, perform, or work. My entire livelihood & financial stability relies on my body, and I have entered a financial state of emergency.

Throughout the first few weeks of healing, I remained mostly at rest, staying inside & laying down, taking care of myself. The last few weeks I have looked for, and done some odd jobs- but since I could not utilize my usual skillset (acrobatics, aerial & dance) I have found myself in a deep financial hole.

I am just now beginning to enter the next chapter of being able to get back to performing, teaching & showcasing my work, but I have no idea how I’m going to make up for the money that has been lost over the last month and a half, nor how I’m going to actually successfully pay for this surgery, now that my insurance has denied coverage. I feel it is going to take a miracle, which is why I have come to GoFundMe for help.

(I am also admittedly in the middle of a huge transition out of my childhood home, which my family just closed on a few days ago. The cost & process of moving & relocating my entire life across the globe has also been financially substantial, and nearly Impossible at this time. I have had to reach out to several friends & family members for loans just to get through this. We even had our lawyers grant a six week extension, as my surgery happened to fall on the week we were meant to move. The timing of everything happening all at once has been extraordinarily challenging)

It is NOT easy for me to ask for help, especially from strangers, especially for finances, but I am putting all embarrassment, & shame aside, and I am sharing my story with honesty & integrity. I believe in the goodness of people, and I believe in the help that is coming my way. I’ve read some other awe inspiring stories on this site, and am blown away by how people have come together to help one another.

I want to thank whoever is reading this for your time, and any contribution you might be able to make towards my circumstance. Your support means everything to me.

I am attempting to raise funds for at least a quarter of the money I have lost due to having & recovering from my cervical surgery, and I am hoping I will be able to do that successfully through this beautiful platform and this incredible, supportive community of people.
