My name is Ari. I'm a multimedia artist and events organiser, currently living in the UK.
For the past six years, I've been subject to constant abuse from my parents related to my transgender identity, oftentimes physical. This has been something I've struggled with throughout the latter half of my teens, moving between a string of mental health workers and attempts to move out once I came of age.
Before now, work & education commitments and the ability to travel meant I could survive in the day to day despite my home situation, but quarantine has forced me to share a small space with my abusers for over a year now.
The effect this has had on my mental health has become too much to bear. I've become increasingly more lethargic, paranoid and depressed in my daily life, barely able to leave my bed let alone improve my life in a way that would permit me to escape my situation. I've lost the two jobs I had because of this pervasive anxiety, but could attempt to get in touch with my boss again if I was in a position where I could commit to working. My symptoms caused me to be hospitalised last year but the only thing that came of that was the offer of group therapy over Zoom.

At this current point, I've found nowhere to stay and cannot live in this house further. I have enough money to stay in hostels for a few weeks, but going forward all donation money will be used on food and shelter until I have the ability to move in with a partner or friend post-Covid.
