Ari, my brother-in-law, is a devoted father, partner, brother, son, and uncle. Sadly, within just five months, the cancer returned and spread to his peritoneum. The FDA-approved treatments available offer little hope, and the primary one Ari tried before surgery was largely ineffective. This diagnosis is considered terminal, with a life expectancy of just 1-5 years depending on how he responds to treatment.

Despite these challenges, Ari is not giving up. He is working closely with an oncologist at the City of Hope, exploring breakthrough drugs that could extend his life. The most promising option right now is an immunotherapy medication called Bot/Bal, but it is only accessible outside the US and comes with a staggering cost. There are no clinical trials in the US that fit Ari’s profile, and this treatment, along with travel, lodging, and food, represents a significant financial burden for his family. We also know that this may be the first of several unexpected expenses as Ari continues to pursue every possible path to more time with his loved ones.
