Hi!

My name's Ares. I'm a 30 year old artist and healthcare worker. If you're familiar with my work, you will know how important queer expression and telling LGBT+ stories are to me. I have been out as trans and proud for over ten years now, and I'm currently raising money for top surgery. This surgery will change my life day to day, allowing me to return to the gym, go swimming, leave the house in summer, and even sleep without being in mental and physical distress.

If you're an LGBT person in the UK, I'm sure you're well aware of the struggles that transgender people are suffering here every day. How adults who are completely socially transitioned, who have been on HRT for several years, are being failed by the system and are losing years of their lives in endless waiting lists that effectively lead nowhere. Six years ago, I left my home country and came here so I could live my truth. I've worked hard, jumped through every hoop, and while I'm finally in a place where I am safe and loved, this final huge obstacle is looming before me. To overcome it, I need your help. I am desperate to be able to start living my life!

Any funds raised by this will go towards

my surgery costs (estimated at around £8,500)
any further consultations or referrals required by the surgeon
associated travel costs, as neither my partner nor I drive
supporting my family and me during the six weeks that I will be recovering
