My teammates, colleagues of other teams within the league, and I relocated to Europe, with hope, encouragement, and eagerness to play Pro American Arena Football. What was publicized as a great experience and opportunity quickly turned into turmoil, disbelief, and safety concerns, including financial and personal losses among many players on teams among the European region. Each of these safety concerns, league reputation, and canceled contracts from many arenas in Europe have left us with projected income promised and contracted to be delayed or no paid, affecting our livelihoods and pro football experience.
After being threatened with attorneys, by speaking up and creating a go fund me to help raise awareness and support for players that were wrongfully released or impacted by the operations of the organization and currently remain still stuck in Europe from their Country, with little to no money, we are grateful to anyone that can help spread the word and support.
Every transaction is documented for using personal funds to get to (team sponsor) gym for workouts, personal funds spent on meals and groceries since March 9th, when promised that sponsors and meals would be in place and told that I could not get reimbursed for anything.
My now former team, during my tenure, were not compensated for “PAID” appearances that we received confirmation from the owner / commissioner that we were to be compensated for, as other team players within the league have been paid for their team appearances.
Teammates have been impacted by transportation and fuel costs restricting or limiting travel to get to and from practice, including myself taking public transportation 3-4 times a day since March 9th.
Multiple contract changes have delayed many of us paying our bills on time. Some teams have been compensated for their canceled games and canceled scrimmages, in which our team was told we will not get paid for those 3 combined weeks (2) canceled games (1) canceled scrimmage and that schedule changes will cause for (hopeful) future games to be added “AFTER” the season.
Some players do not have the ability to afford groceries, as meals and adequate housing were to be covered by the organization. Another team has completely removed from the league due to canceled arena contracts in a Germany region, as players had to immediately adjust as their first 3 games were completely canceled! Our Go Fund me raised the awareness for the league to do right by the players towards this dilemma.
Funds raised will help expenses incurred, transportation cost for players whom vehicles have had challenges driving 2-6 hours or taking the train for practice multiple times per week, groceries, travel arrangements back to our native countries (including fellow U.S. Citizen/ Friend, Chaz Russell), housing/hotel, and support for the remaining ones impacted or recently released from the organization.
Though, multiple games have been canceled and many other factors impacting this experience, we appreciate every person that considers to support. Your support will help us return home safely for those who can’t cover the costs completely, recover from personal losses, and gather the proper representation to support this current matter. We are grateful for any assistance you can provide as we work to raise awareness and get our voices heard.
