Hi, my name is Libby and I’m Carol and Ardie’s pastor. Ardie is 59 and the sweetest, kindest woman. She loves her cat Tina, talking with friends and painting. Ardie has special needs and has lived with her Mom, Carol, for most of her life. Carol had a very difficult life but was a loving and dedicated mother. Carol was also an amazing musician. She sang in several choirs and played with many bands and orchestras on Cape Cod. She blessed so many people with her gift.

A couple of years ago, Carol was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She had an amazing attitude, and was positive and hopeful throughout her treatments. She rarely complained and always had a big smile for visitors. Sadly, Carol passed away on Monday February 7 just a few minutes after Ardie had left.

Ardie’s church family has wrapped around her to try to help Ardie live independently now that Carol is no longer with us. One of our angels goes over several days a week to be sure Ardie is taking care of cleaning and groceries. For various frustrating reasons, Ardie has never been qualified for state support or services (BUREAUCRACY!!!) Ardie works at Michael’s craft store one shift a week, and at a local restaurant on a part-time basis. This time of year on Cape Cod, that usually means one day a week.

Carol leaves Ardie many beautiful memories and blessings, but very limited financial resources. Ardie’s income barely covers her monthly expenses when there are no extra expenses like car repairs or doctors bills. If there are additional expenses, we scramble to figure out what to do.

We hope to raise an emergency fund to give Ardie a cushion during months when she doesn’t have enough income, or when she has unexpected expenses. A loving parishioner administers Ardie’s finances for her and will be the guardian of this fund.
