Help Architect Peter Martínez Zellner Return to Los Angeles

Donation protected
Hello, I'm Peter "Pedro" Joaquín Antonio Martínez Zellner, an architect, educator, and artist with deep roots in the Los Angeles design community.

After nearly two years in Nicaragua—where I've been currently caretaking a coffee plantation near Managua while staying creative and productive—I'm ready to return to LA, secure meaningful work, and fully re-engage in the profession and community I love and spend time with my daughter before she heads off to college.

My time here in Nicaragua has been transformative. Despite funding and regulatory challenges, I've accomplished a great deal:
- Renovated a beautiful house with indoor-outdoor flow, several new paintings of mine, and a custom mural near the pool
  • Designed hand-built custom furniture
  • Mounted a successful exhibition of my paintings
  • Advanced two personal book projects: a collection of poetry and a semi-autobiographical account of my life and work in Nicaragua
  • Made plans to launch ELAN, la Escuela Libre de Arquitectura Nicaragua
  • Worked on several planning and preplanning efforts for local Nicaraguan land owners
  • Reconnected with my surfing skills and got myself back in shape and at my high school weight.

Following the passing of my mother last year, I faced some personal challenges, including some dangerous addictive behaviors.

I'm proud to share that I've struggled but as of this year I have overcome them—I'm sober, no longer smoking, substance free and more focused and energized than ever.

Now, my priority is clear: return to Los Angeles and restart my architecture career. I've been actively applying for positions, including professional opportunities and teaching roles in LA and across the U.S.

I am working towards the goal of having a firm job commitment in hand, and with that I need approximately $3,500 to cover living expenses for up to three months in Nicaragua while I work online, return logistics and initial resettlement in LA.

Your support will directly enable this transition, allowing me to contribute again to projects, teaching, and the vibrant LA network I've collaborated with in the past.

To make this possible my goal is to work online in Nicaragua for 3 months.
GoFundMe funds will cover a US smartphone with service, iPad repairs, architecture laptop with software, and 3 months' housing near Managua

The goal is to raise $3,500 but anything helps.

This covers an essential 3-month budget for professional revival while living near Managua .

Breakdown uses current market prices for a small apartment rental, utilities, repairs and includes shipping to Nicaragua for a US based cell phone.

Why This Matters
Reliable phone enables US job calls; repaired iPad supports daily tasks; laptop and software unlock remote architecture roles at competitive rates.
Housing ensures stable WiFi for applications amid Nicaragua's challenges

Updates and Impact
Funds enable immediate purchases/repairs, targeting Southern California or remote positions .

100% goes to listed items; transparent receipts shared.

  • Return to US planned post-stabilization.
  • Donate to restart a proven career.

I'm immensely grateful for any contribution, share, or encouragement.

Once settled and employed, I plan to pay this generosity forward.

Thank you for helping me get home and back to doing what I love.

I look forward to reconnecting in LA soon!

Warm regards,

Peter Martínez Zellner
