Help Archimedes Griffith fight Diabetes

Hi, I am here to ask for some help for a friend of mine. Most of you that know me and know how much time I have spent at Forgotten Cats, know it was all possible because all the amazing dedication and help of all the volunteers.. I made good friends there. Met wonderful people that helps the cats day and night...not only at the shelter but their own and their own feral cats.
One of her cats started showing signs of sickness a few weeks / months ago, she could not afford take to a vet and had delayed this a bit. I honestly couldn't help myself and had to help her out. I told her to come to where I work (Wilmington Animal Hospital) at and get some bloodwork done, I covered all costs so far (~$400)
We found out that he is diabetic sadly. There are a few things that need to change, feeding habits specially as she also has other cats in the house. Not going to be easy but I told her I will be helping and supporting her as much as I can.
I am here to ask for a hand if anybody has anything to spare, or even sharing.
The main goal is to do a switch of diet and keep all cats with wet food, specially Archemides (Beetles as mommy Stacey calls him) and also start him on Lantus Insulin, that if anybody here knows it is quite expensive ( more than $300 for a 10ml vial) to that we need to add syringes and followup bloodwork, glucose curve (need to get some supplies to do this at home and lower costs).
That is why I aimed at 1500$ to hopefully be able to cover the following months ahead.
If all goes well and he gets into remission which is my goal, I will stop the fundraiser and just buy wet food or whatever is needed at the time.
We are not sure if he needs to be on a prescription diet yet. Again the goal is switching to wet food diet first adding insulin and hoping for a turn around.
