Help Archie fight Lissencephaly
Archie Noah Howie was born with a medical condition called Lissencephaly (meaning smooth brain). This rare condition means that Archie needs ongoing daily support. He needs ongoing physical therapy, hydrotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy on a weekly basis and receives additional support at school.
The life expectancy for a child with Lissencephaly is 10 years old however we want to beat this statistic and give Archie the best possible chance at living a long and healthy life.
His condition comes with a range of difficulties including seizures which he has daily. He is unable to speak, sit, stand, walk, crawl or eat / drink independently.
Archie will require surgery on his hips and spine as he is unable to weight bare through his hips and they are now out of alignment. He will also require surgery if his seizures get any more severe.
Archie is wheelchair bound for the rest of his life and requires a specialised van to take him to appointments and school. We are trying to raise enough money to purchase this van in order to be able to take him to all his appointments and school each day. This van will provide access for Archie's customised wheelchair that weighs over 30kg.
Archie also requires intensive physiotherapy sessions which he completes at NAPA. These intensive physiotherapy blocks last for 3 weeks and we are trying to raise enough money to pay for these sessions.
Archie has had a recent growth spurt and now requires a new bodysuit to provide him with additional support through his torso to aid with his posture and the development of his bones and joints. He requires ongoing support for all his sessions and will require this for the rest of his life.
Any small donation will go a long way to ensure that Archie is able to live a long, happy, healthy, comfortable life and is continually learning new skills. Jason Howie will be the beneficiary for this fundraiser as he is Archie's Dad.
