Help Archie Fight His Battle With Cancer

It is with heavy hearts but also hopeful spirits to share the story of our beloved, Archie.

After multiple visits to the vet, over the past few weeks, what we thought was an infection, turned out to be something much more serious. At just 4 years old, Archie has been diagnosed with lymphoma. While this news has been devastating, we’re fully committed to doing everything we can to help him fight to have a full recovery.

ARCHIE'S JOURNEY

For the past 4 years, Archie has filled our lives with love, laughter, energy and healing. Archie came home with me in 2020 during the COVID lockdown and has since been a huge emotional support and plays a crucial role in our family. Archie and I travelled together interstate, to our forever home and have since expanded our family where he and his sister, absolutely adore each other. He has become an irreplaceable member of our family; his presence has been a source of comfort and joy for all those who meet him.

When we first approached the vet, Archie showed symptoms of Gastrointestinal issues (passing blood through his stools, weightloss & minimal appetite). A lump (the size of a fist) appeared on his neck, however this still did not raise any serious concerns to the vet. We were prescribed antibiotics to treat his gut and began some blood work to confirm the nature of the cyst on his neck and booked in a surgery to have the abscess drained.

Post surgery, Archie is looking better and appetite is slowly returning, however blood is still present in his stools and struggles to go toilet.

Archie was sent home with some more antibiotics for his neck and another dose of antibiotics for his gut.

Another week goes by and we’re back at the vet for a post surgery check up. What we thought would be the all clear, resulted in the doctors finding more swollen lymph nodes that had grown since the surgery. Further testing was done which unfortunately confirms Archie’s lymphoma diagnosis.

Archie’s battle with lymphoma requires chemotherapy, with treatment costs estimated between $8,000 and $10,000.

At this stage, we’ve paid close to $3000 in vet bills and seeking any donations to go towards Archie’s treatment.
