On February 23rd, one of the most exciting days of our life began: Nick and I welcomed Archie, our handsome 12-week-old Golden Retriever, to our family.

 

 

Within 48 hours, our worst nightmare began to unfold. Archie’s health quickly deteriorated, and test results soon revealed that Archie was infected with giardia, coccidia, and the highly contagious and often-fatal parvovirus. Archie quickly transformed from a cheerful, playful puppy to a lethargic and critically ill dog, dangerously dehydrated and unable to eat, drink, or even walk on his own. Without immediate medical attention, Archie could have died within hours.

 

 

Fortunately, we caught Archie’s symptoms early and were able to admit him to the hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of BluePearl Veterinary Hospital for lifesaving care. Archie is a tough little guy and he has survived the worst of his illness but remains hospitalized in critical care as his GI tract continues to heal. We’re committed to doing everything we can to ensure Archie has a full recovery — and he’s on that path today.

 

With Archie’s medical bills ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 per day, we’re facing a financial burden we never could have expected.
