Help Arber & his family
Donation protected
While visiting family in Albania with our two year old son Louie, my husband Arber suffered a severe stroke on April 20th 2023.
One minute he was fine, the next he wasn’t.
After being taken to two hospitals he was then diagnosed with having suffered a significant stroke and then underwent life saving surgery to remove the blockages stopping the blood flow to his brain. This surgery initially went well but two days later the pressure in his brain increased and he had to undergo a craniectomy to relieve the pressure.
After this Arber was placed in an induced coma to help his recovery go at a slower rate. A few days later he then had to have a tracheotomy to help him with his breathing as he was slowly woken from the coma. We are a few more days down the line now and he is starting to respond better to human interaction and voices, he has slowly increasing strength in his left side, but his right side is still quite unresponsive.
Doctors have said that in several weeks Arber will have to undergo more surgery to replace the skull bone from the craniectomy and probably several other procedures in between. We hold on to the hope that Arber will continue to fight and stay strong and be able to leave the intensive care unit at the hospital in Albania soon and start his very long road of rehabilitation and recovery.
This funding page has been set up to help with the medical costs involved with Arber’s situation which are mounting with every day that he remains in hospital and the surgeries and treatment that he is having. Arber is in a private hospital in Tirana as it is the only one in Albania which was able to treat him with the type of surgery and life support he needed and still needs. The future remains uncertain but I know there will be further multiple financial implications for helping Arber recover and rehabilitate to the best of his capabilities and get back to being as independent as possible. There is also the complexity of him currently being abroad and at some point needing to be brought back home to the UK to continue his recovery. Any donations we receive will be put towards all these things and I will be forever grateful for every single penny, thank you.
Arber is loved and cared for by so many people and this awful situation has highlighted just how much this is the case. The well wishes from friends and family have been overwhelming and I thank you all for that. Our daughter Ayla and son Louie need their Daddy to keep fighting and stay strong and I need my husband back, we love him so much We will remain hopeful for the best recovery possible for Arber, those of you that know him will know he is such a strong-willed and determined person and I know that he will be fighting every step of the way.
Thank you for your generosity ❤️
