You might not know, because she never asks for anything, but Araina suffered a debilitating hand injury in late March. The two deep puncture wounds in her left hand carried a risk of serious complications and infection, and resulted in several days at the hospital. It will be weeks before she can work again. The wounds were received during an attempt to ease the suffering of her beloved dog, Chongo, who left Araina and Tatum too soon.

As a massage therapist, her touch brings light and healing. Behind the bar, she is a freaking mezcal slinging goddess. To know Araina in one of these roles is to love her. To know her in both makes you the luckiest person alive.

I could wax poetic about what a gift Araina is, but to put it simply, it’s finally our turn to put a drop back in the bucket of the most generous human around.
