Hi, my name is Ashley. I am reaching out for help for someone very special to me, my aunt Aracely Valencia.

Aracely is one of the kindest and most genuine people I know. She is the type of person who always has a smile on her face, even on the hardest days. She loves making people happy and she has always been incredibly hardworking. Sadly, life has placed some very difficult challenges in her path.

On April 9th of 2022 my aunt received a kidney transplant. Her body accepted the kidney, but it is constantly contaminated with bacteria and has already become colonized by Pseudomonas, one of the most difficult bacteria to treat. Because of this, she has been in and out of the hospital almost every other day. She has faced multiple complications and the medical bills have become overwhelming.

Due to her health, she has not been able to work. Even so, she still tries her best by making desserts from home in hopes of selling them to earn a little money. But it is simply not enough to cover the ongoing medical expenses.

Her oldest son, who is only 22 years old, made the heartbreaking decision to drop out of school in order to support her. He has worked two jobs at the same time to try to keep up with the bills, but the emotional and financial stress has taken a huge toll on him. His mental health has deteriorated significantly, and even though he is exhausted, he refuses to give up on his mother. Many times my aunt does not even tell him when she is not feeling well because she knows how much he is already carrying and she does not want to worry him more than he already is.

This is why I am turning to all of you.

We are asking for help so that my cousin can get a break and so my aunt can receive the treatments she desperately needs without constantly fearing how she will pay for them. She often spends weeks at a time in the hospital and the costs have become more than our family can handle. We want to give her another chance at life, a life where she does not have to worry every single day about the cost of her treatments.

My aunt also has a 14 year old son who still needs his mother. He deserves to grow up with her by his side. He deserves to see her at his graduation. He deserves to have his mom for many more years.

Aracely es una de las personas más amables y genuinas que conozco. Es el tipo de persona que siempre tiene una sonrisa en el rostro, incluso en los días más difíciles. Le encanta hacer felices a los demás y siempre ha sido una mujer muy trabajadora. Lamentablemente, la vida le ha puesto desafíos muy duros en su camino.

El 9 de abril del 2022 mi tía recibió un trasplante de riñón. Su cuerpo aceptó el riñón, pero este se encuentra constantemente contaminado con bacterias y ya está colonizado por Pseudomonas, una de las bacterias más difíciles de tratar. Debido a esto, ha estado entrando y saliendo del hospital casi todos los días. Ha tenido varias complicaciones y las cuentas médicas se han vuelto imposibles de manejar. Debido a su salud, no ha podido trabajar. Aun así, sigue esforzándose y hace postres desde su casa con la esperanza de venderlos y ganar un poco de dinero. Pero no es suficiente para cubrir todos los gastos médicos que siguen acumulándose.

Su hijo mayor, que solo tiene 22 años, tomó la dolorosa decisión de dejar la escuela para poder ayudarla. Ha trabajado en dos empleos al mismo tiempo para intentar mantenerse al día con las deudas, pero el estrés emocional y financiero lo ha afectado muchísimo. Su salud mental ha empeorado de manera significativa y aunque está agotado, se niega a rendirse por su mamá. Muchas veces mi tía ni siquiera le cuenta cuando se siente mal porque sabe todo lo que él ya carga encima y no quiere preocuparlo más.

Por eso estoy acudiendo a todos ustedes.

Estamos pidiendo ayuda para que mi primo pueda tener un descanso y para que mi tí­a pueda recibir los tratamientos que necesita sin vivir con el miedo constante de cómo pagarlos. Muchas veces pasa semanas completas en el hospital y los gastos se han vuelto demasiado para nuestra familia. Queremos darle otra oportunidad de vivir, una vida en la que no tenga que preocuparse todos los días por el costo de sus tratamientos.

Mi tía también tiene un hijo de 14 años que todavía necesita a su mamá. Él merece crecer con ella a su lado. Merece verla en su graduación. Merece tener a su mamá por muchos años más.

Desde el fondo de mi corazón, gracias a cada persona que pueda donar, compartir esta historia o simplemente mantener a mi tía en sus oraciones. Cualquier ayuda significa más de lo que pueden imaginar.
