Help April Rebuild after Flood

Hello; my name is April and while I’m sorry to even be asking, I have come into hard times and require assistance.

 

On Saturday 26th February 2022 QLD experienced unexpected and abnormally severe floods.

 

Due to the lack of warning, I was only able to move some belongings as high up as possible. This was supposed to be enough as they estimated knee high water.

 

As of Monday 28th of Feb, my unit is completely underwater; along with everything inside. I have lost everything I own and do not have contents insurance to replace anything. For context, residents were reassured the 2011 floods were a once in a century event. The council also took extensive flood mitigation efforts. On Saturday, the state premier advised us not to panic etc. As of today 28/02 I have still not received an evacuation alert. There was simply no time to prepare. 

 

Even worse, it is looking like the external building insurance for the unit complex is not going to cover this natural disaster.

 

I am hoping to raise enough to assist in the cleanup, pest control and decontamination (as my suburb has now had sewerage leak into the flood waters). Beyond that, just trying to get back on my feet and repurchase the basis like a mattress, fridge, washing machine and food for myself and my dog.

 

If you can help at all, I will be eternally grateful. Luckily, my dog Evie and I are safe but we are starting from scratch without any money or possessions.
