Help April Fight MS
Donation protected
Hi, my name is April, and I'm fundraising for my fight against MS.
In 2014 my life changed without me knowing it. Nerve issues started happening throughout my body. I was 38 years old with a two-year-old daughter. For years I thought it was late-stage Lyme Disease, which I had treatments for. I have always been a physically active person, running, hiking, walking our dogs, and keeping up with my daughter.
In 2021 when I started not being able to do what I usually do, I knew something else was wrong and went to see a neurologist. In March of 2022, the dreaded diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis was given. Multiple Sclerosis is an unpredictable and often disabling disease where your immune system attacks the myelin that covers your nerves that communicate to all parts of your body. I currently suffer from numbness, dizziness, fatigue, and weakness in the right side of my body.
Since my diagnosis and the absolute fear of disability and cognitive decline, I have been researching and learning the best way to fight MS. All the current medications offered can only slow the progression of the disease if they work for you. There is a treatment called Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) that stops the progression of the disease. It has been an effective treatment for many years around the world. In the USA it remains in the clinical trial phase. I do not qualify for the trial as you need to fail two medications (disease-modifying therapies) while getting more disabled before being accepted. I do not want to wait to get worse.
I have been accepted for HSCT treatment for early 2023 in Mexico, which is extremely expensive. So I ask you to help me fight this terrible disease for a brighter future with my family and loved ones.
Thank you!!
