Update: Vehicle rental complete! Between rental fees, required deposit, and taxes, we’re at $570. That leaves about $200 for gas and travel essentials. After GoFundMe gets their cut.
If you feel called to share or re-share, it helps more than you know. Thank you deeply for helping us get this far.

With love,
April

Update: We Have a Date!

I'm incredibly grateful to share that we now have an official plan in place.

With deep mutual understanding and love for Hunter, his grandmother and I have come together to coordinate a halfway point to meet. We’ll be bringing him home on August 4th.

This is a huge step forward in this journey — one that brings so much relief, hope, and movement.

Thank you all so much for your generous support and donations so far. We’ve raised $909, and every single dollar has helped us take this from dream to action.

I’ll be posting more details soon as we finalize the last logistical pieces. But for now — please know how deeply your support is felt. We’re getting closer every day.

With love and gratitude,
April

Help Me Bring My Son Home—The Journey Isn’t Over Yet

Hi, my name is April.

Last year, on August 8th, my life changed forever.

My 21-year-old son, 22 now, survived something no one should have to endure.

He was shot in the head by his father.

By some miracle, he lived.

But survival is just the beginning. The path to healing is long, painful, and deeply vulnerable.

In the time since, he’s been in the temporary custody of his grandmother.

More than 15 hours away from me.

I’ve done everything I can to support him from afar.

But distance can only stretch so far when someone you love is hurting.

Now, after a long and courageous recovery, he’s finally ready to come home.

As his mother, I know:

He needs to be with me.
He needs safety.
He needs care.
He needs love.
He needs home.

Why We Still Need Your Help

The situation is no longer at the peak of crisis.

But the journey of healing is ongoing.

I still need help to bring my son home in a way that honors the depth of what he’s been through.

With deep thought and help from friends,
we created a plan that allows him to travel safely, calmly, and with dignity:

Renting an RV for the trip home.

Why an RV?

It gives him privacy and peace on the long drive

No hotels needed — better for his body, spirit, and our budget

Room for our support animals, who soothe his nervous system

The freedom to move slowly, resting when needed

What We Need

We’re asking for $3,500 to cover the essentials:

Expense Estimate

RV rental + deposit + insurance $1,800–$2,000 (for smallest rental)
Travel costs (gas, food, etc.) $500–$700
Basic supplies + care $400–$600 (supplies for him)

We’ve raised $909 so far.

And every single dollar has helped.
But we still have a ways to go.

If You Feel Moved to Help

Whether you’re able to give, share, or simply send us your love —
please know it means the world.

This is not just about money.
It’s about helping a young man rebuild his life after unimaginable trauma.
It’s about a mother’s love.
It’s about coming home.

From my heart to yours,
Thank you.

With gratitude and fierce hope,
April
