Help Appa Recover from Emergency Surgery
Donation protected

This is Appa. He is a sweet 3-year-old rescued cat. A few days ago, Appa unfortunately got out of the house on New Year's Day due to stress from fireworks, and we were not able to locate him until the next morning. He returned extremely sick, refusing to eat, weak, and had severe vomiting and diarrhea. My first thought was that he may have ingested something toxic while he was outside during the night. After taking him to the vet the next day, he had a low-grade fever, weakness, and continued to have severe diarrhea. The vet ran blood tests, and results came back poor, with low RBC and WBC, indicating his liver had become fatty, causing him to develop jaundice. They still couldn't figure out what had caused this, and Appa's condition continued to worsen. After running x-rays, it appeared that his intestines were blocked, producing pockets of gas in his small intestine and fluid accumulation around his lungs. Appa had an unknown foreign object in his intestines that was causing much pain and discomfort. The vet attempted to induce vomiting with the hope that he would pass the object on his own, but this attempt was not successful, and he had to be rushed into emergency abdominal surgery to avoid further damage to his intestines.
After several tests, blood work, and an x-ray, it was determined his condition was due to an obstruction. The initial estimated cost of his surgery was $4000-5000. This is in addition to his emergency vet visit, which was another $1,000.
As much as I hate to ask for any kind of money, absolutely any financial help or simply sharing would be greatly appreciated. This fund will go directly towards his surgery and aftercare. His recovery will most likely take longer, and there is a bigger risk of after-surgery complications due to his current condition, so anything helps. If you are able, please consider donating or help spread his story by sharing his link. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking time to read Appa's story.
