Help Apollo & Elisha

Apollo Helsel-Watson (age 26) and his wife, Elisha (age 24) are experiencing a life that is extremely rare for a couple their age.  Apollo is in the final stages of renel failure and has what is called IgA-phropathy.  (Also known as Berger's disease.  It is a kidney disease that occurs when an antibody called immunoglobulin A (IgA) lodges in your kidneys. This results in local inflammation that, over time, may hamper your kidneys' ability to filter wastes from your blood.)

This auto immune disease began when Apollo was 15 and, over time, has taken its toll on his body. He now needs a kidney transplant.  His mom, Tasha Watson, is a good match and she will be giving him a kidney within the month.  The transplant is to take place on November 19 at Mercy Health Saint Mary's in Grand Rapids.

As you can imagine, with the symptoms that affect Apollo with this devastating disease (nausea, frequent vomiting, fatigue, muscle cramping, restless leg syndrome, weakness, loss of appetite), his life has been miserable to say the least.  He has been on kidney dialysis 3 days per week for the last year.  He and his family are looking forward  - with thankfulness to God and medical staff -  to a surgery that will save his life and bring him new life to live with his wife, little girls Anaiah (4) and Eden(2) and parents, Doug & Tasha Watson.

Apollo has been unable to physically work for a few months and, with the time left until surgery and including recuperation time, it will be more than 7 months that he’s been or will be unable to work.  He would LOVE to work and care for his family. That is his prayer…that God will provide strength and good health once again.

How can YOU help?  Of course, with a GoFundMe page, it’s obvious that they need your financial help.  Most of all though, Apollo and Elisha covet your prayers – that God will provide good health again for both Apollo and Tasha as they recuperate from surgery.

If you’re able, please prayerfully consider how you can bless this family financially.  Whether it’s $10 or $1,000, each gift is appreciated more than you’ll ever know.  There are many living expenses that keep occurring each day - rent, utilities, insurance, vehicle expense, phone, kids clothes, gas, medical bills, etc. – and with only Elisha’s part-time job to cover expenses, they need your help.  Thank you so much for being willing to reach out and be a helping hand to someone in need.

Thank you again for gifting them with a sense of peace as we help them cover some of their expenses.
