Aparecida, Debora and Jorge were coming home from visiting family in Brazil on March 21st. In the layover stop right before arriving home Aparecida was deemed unfit to fly from Mexico City, Mexico to San Francisco, California. Her oxygen level was incredibly low and needed immediate medical attention so she was taken to Cami Hospital ten minutes away from the airport.
WHAT HAPPENED
She had contracted the coronavirus and it exasterbated a preexisting condition in her heart which went undetected until the medical staff in Mexico examined her upon arrival. She had a severe heart attack and immediately went into surgery. Aparecida was then connected to assisted breathing as the medical staff cared for and monitored her fluid-filled lungs and apnea among other things. She is still in the ICU as of now (3/26)
Jorge and Debora were accommodated within the hospital as the persons responsible for the decision-making in Aparecida’s medical care and have very limited freedom in coming and going from the facility. All three have been in Mexico since Thursday, March 21st.
MEDICAL BILL
Aparecida has accumulated a large medical bill of over $28,000 and counting with each passing day as they wait for her full recovery in order to fly home. Her insurance has been denied and Jorge has paid $15,000 dollars of the current balance. With each medical procedure, further payment is expected. This creates a financial urgency as Aparecida continues to recover.
HELP APARECIDA RECOVER
Jorge and Debora have been financially impacted by this emergency and humbly decided to turn to friends and family for help. If you feel called to help financially in any way, Jorge and Debora would be so grateful to receive a donation of the amount you are able to afford.
If you are unable to help financially, consider sharing with someone you may know could help. Your prayers and words of encouragement mean so much as they struggle to remain uplifted while managing the brunt of this entire situation.
From Jorge, Debora and Aparecida — Thank You
