Help Anya Walk Again: Support His Recovery

This is Anya:

He's a goofy little goober. He enjoys napping in the sink, blocking mousepads, and cardboard boxes:

This past January, he randomly showed up on our front porch. Very friendly, but small, skinny, and so hungry. We never planned on adopting a cat since Raven is allergic, but that night was going to be a hard freeze - the first that winter, with more freezing weather to follow for the next week. So we took him in, just for that week. We thought.

He would not stop moving that first night.

Then, the next week, we saw historically unprecedented cold and snowfall for where we live. (It's New Orleans. Any snowfall is unheard of.)

By now I figure we had saved his life twice over - and he figured, correctly, that he had found a home.

A couple of weeks ago, though, he went out in the backyard, and then we didn't see him that night. Or the next morning. And then we found out he had been found by a neighbor and taken to an animal hospital.

He had fallen off a roof, or was hit by a car, or even possibly been kicked by someone. We don't know. But the X-rays showed he had a broken pelvic bone, cleanly in half. There was no chance of it healing on its own. He needed surgery or he would never be able to walk again, and would suffer constant pain. The initial estimate was $2400. We couldn't realistically afford it, but financing was available. I was able to qualify for a CareCredit card with a $2900 limit. Interest-free for six month, 33% APR after that. Scary, but doable. Later, the estimate was raised to $3500. And then he emerged from surgery, woozy but in better shape, to a final bill of $4200.

This is why we're making a GoFundMe. I've maxed out the CareCredit card, and then the remainder came directly out of my paycheck. That's money we'd need for rent, bills, groceries...and still need to pay down the card before the interest hit.

I'm asking for $1400 to cover the amount I wasn't able to finance (plus fees, etc.). This is the urgent, emergency amount we need to continue to provide Anya with a stable home, food, treats, kitty litter, and everything else a recovering injured kitty needs.

Any amount will help, no matter how small. We appreciate you!

Thanks so much,
Cat and Raven
