My name is Antoinette, and I am reaching out for help during an incredibly difficult time for my family. I am disabled and living with terminal cancer, and while I receive food stamps, we haven’t received any assistance here in Florida yet. My monthly income is very limited, and my husband, who is a senior, also receives a small monthly check. Our youngest son recently suffered a stroke, and I am doing my best to get him on Medicaid and disability, but the process is slow and stressful.

Right now, we are facing urgent financial challenges. I owe back rent, and until at least half of it is paid, we cannot move to a newly built apartment complex that would be safer and more comfortable for us. We rely on food banks, but most of them don’t provide meat, so buying groceries is still a struggle. Both my husband’s and my phones are currently off, and I am using a government phone just to stay connected. One of my hopes is to get my husband a new cell phone so he can reach out to family and friends.
