Hello, I’m Avery Suarez. Our family is reaching out during one of the hardest chapters of our lives. My brother, Anthony Suarez, has been doing everything in his power to support and care for our mom, Valerie Markel Welch, as she battles an aggressive form of small cell lung cancer — a fight she has been enduring with strength for the past year. Over the past few weeks, Mom’s condition has declined rapidly. She now requires constant support, comfort, and the presence of the people who love her most. Anthony has stepped up to be by her side, but doing so comes with significant financial strain.

In order to be there in our mother's time of need, he has no choice but to take unpaid leave from work, leaving him without income during a moment when travel expenses, housing, and basic necessities continue to add up. We are creating this GoFundMe to help relieve the financial burden so Anthony can focus on what truly matters — being with our mom, supporting her through treatments, and giving her the love and stability she needs during this stage of her journey and battle with cancer.
