On October 28th, 2025, Category 5 Hurricane Melissa tore through the western region of Jamaica, leaving behind a trail of devastation unlike anything we’ve seen in decades. One of the communities hit hardest was Seaford Town in Westmoreland, where Anthony Kameka lives.

Anthony’s home took a direct hit, and the destruction has been overwhelming. Sections of his zinc roof were torn away, windows were shattered, and part of his front porch was ripped off completely, but the most alarming damage is structural. The foundation of Anthony’s home has shifted. This puts the stability of the entire house at risk and makes repairs both urgent and costly.

Anthony is a kind, hardworking individual who has always been there for others in the community, especially helping his fellow neighbors after the hurricane. Now he needs our help. With the extent of the damage to his home, the cost of repairs is far beyond what he can manage on his own.

* Cement for repairing the foundation

My name is Angela King, a Jamaican living in Lawrenceville, Georgia. My daughter and son-in-law, Samantha & Steve Scott, also live in Seaford Town and thankfully were not as badly affected by the hurricane. They have been providing what support they can to Anthony, who is Steve's cousin. Anthony is disheartened by the damage sustained to his family home he grew up in, as he's spent the last 3 years renovating the structure with his own two hands. Thankfully, the sections of the roof that he had previously replaced himself held strong in the high winds - a testament to the quality of work he had put into his renovation. Unfortunately, he didn't get to the parts of the original roof, which ultimately was ripped away.
