My name is Jonisa, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my parents, Anthony and Denise James, who are struggling to keep their home of 23 years. Due to serious health issues and a sudden loss of income, they have fallen behind on their mortgage and utilities and are at risk of losing the home they worked so hard to build. Despite frequent offers to buy their house, all they want is to stay in it and make it safe again.

Over the past year, our family has faced multiple medical crises. My father, Anthony, was hospitalized with pneumonia and severe complications related to asthma and COPD, which left him unable to work. My mother, Denise, also suffers from chronic and painful medical conditions. While they were helping care for my son and I during illness, their situation worsened financially, and bills quickly piled up. Their home now has major issues they cannot afford to fix: exposed walls and insulation, lack of heat, electrical problems, water damage from a flooded basement. They were taken advantage of by contractors who left work unfinished, leaving their home unsafe and incomplete.

My parents are completely out of options and resources, which lead them to living in a motel. They have always tried to help others when they could, and asking for help now is very hard for them. Any support will go toward urgent home repairs, utilities, and preventing foreclosure so they can remain in their home and regain stability.
