My name is Anthony Brent Sheets and I'm a quadriplegic paralyzed from my neck down with a very small amount of movement in my upper arms only. I suffered a spinal cord injury at the age of 16 in 1989, towards the end of my sophomore year in high school.
Now to jump ahead to this year, I had to go to the hospital for a urinary tract infection and they discovered a heart aneurysm, so I was transported to a bigger hospital more suited to my needs. While in the hospital, I aspirated in my sleep causing me to have double pneumonia. I was moved to the respiratory ICU where, being paralyzed, I could not cough like a normal healthy person. I tried my hardest but my lungs began to fill with fluid and the bottom lobes collapsed. I went on to stop breathing and died for the 1st time and was placed on life support. The doctors had to revive me 2 more times and perform an endo bronchoscopy then suck out the built-up fluid from my lungs. I was in an induced coma for a month given a less than 1% chance of surviving. I pulled through regardless of the doctors' thoughts and beliefs. I suffered no brain damage but I'm not quite as sharp as quickly as before this all happened.
While being in the hospital for 2 months, my bills fell behind and my home was robbed. The thieves even stole the food from the cabinets. I am having to live and rehab in a care facility now to work on regaining my strength enough to push myself in my wheelchair and heal up some pressure wounds my body has acquired. I am asking for your help, my family and friends, to raise money to save my home from foreclosure and catch my bills up to not being behind. I ask this from you humbly from my heart and thank everyone who can help in advance.
