Hi all, my name is Veronica. I am starting this fundraiser to help my step brother Anthony and step Father Mike. Anthony has a neuromuscular disease diagnosed by the Mayo Clinic as CMT. Unfortunately, due to this condition Anthony has lost the ability to use his limbs. Simple daily tasks require full time help for Anthony. Anthony is unable to feed himself, dress himself, brush his teeth by himself or take a bath without assistance, just to name a few. My step Dad Mike has been Anthony’s primary caregiver for the last 5+years. Mike helps Anthony do all the simple things that we all sometimes take for granted. Can you imagine not having the use of your limbs?
Sadly, On February 14, 2024 Mike fell as a result of his C3, C4 and C5 pinching his spine. As a result of the fall Mike’s C3, C4 and C5 punctured his spine. Mike has been released from the hospital and is currently in a rehabilitation center for the next 2-3 weeks and is expected to have a lot of rehab for the next year to gain his mobility back. Mike currently can not move his left arm at all, he has partial movement of his right arm but since he can wiggle his fingers and toes the DRs are hopefully that with a lot of rehab he’ll gain some mobility back. Due to the circumstances of Mike’s fall, Anthony was taken to OR MC downtown Orlando for care and he will soon be forced to facility. Not ideal bc Anthony has a perfect set up at home.
Since it is unclear what condition Mike will be in or for how long it will take to recover, it is my hope that this fundraiser will help bring Anthony home and monetarily cover costs for his home healthcare help for the next 6-12mths. This is the only way that Mike and Anthony can be together during this difficult time.
If you can, please donate. Any amount is greatly appreciated and helpful. If you can’t donate, please share this fundraiser. Also, please pray for Mike’s recovery. Anthony needs his Father. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and for your donations, shares and prayers
