Help Anthony and Beth with their Cancer Battle

Beth’s Story

This journey began on Sept. 9. Beth had a yearly appointment that day with her family doctor. A week or so before, she had noticed something a little abnormal. We decided it might be a good idea to ask her doctor about it. The doctor did not think anything was really serious, maybe just a cyst. She said it would be a good idea to get a mammogram. That followed with more testing as the tests always showed more than expected. In the end, she was diagnosed with stage 3 HER2+ breast cancer. At least 6 lymph nodes have cancer. The first chemotherapy treatment was October 18. Six drugs will be used for the first 6 treatments. They will be every 3 weeks. After that there will be approximately 11 more treatments using 1 or 2 drugs every 3 weeks. The total chemotherapy treatments will be for a year. After the first 6 chemo treatments there will be either a lumpectomy or a mastectomy based on a genetic test. The genetic test shows whether she has the genes that raise the chance higher than the average person for the cancer to come back again. The surgery will be followed by radiation. She will also be on one drug to block the herceptin receptors for 5 years.

Ok a note from the Gofundme organizer: Anthony (36 y/o) and Beth (38 y/o) are an industrious couple here at the Morning Star Congregation. Anthony is part owner of a construction company and a small farmer while Beth has been a homemaker taking care of the children and the many demands around the house. They have filled their place well on the food committee at our church and are an outgoing couple that is often seen helping others. They have 3 children in school, Tylan age 13, Jamie age 10 and Keelan age 7.
On a financial note they have the standard CHA which tops out at $40,000 and Anthony told me they have already topped out. This is just the beginning of their journey with many Dr. visits and lost time at work. As noted above there will likely be surgery in the future. They have had to pay for the first chemo treatment out of pocket and are hoping that the others will be paid for by the drug companies. They are also working on getting on a more substantial insurance plan as soon as possible, however many expenses already incurred and lost time at work are all very real at this busy time of life. Your donations will be greatly appreciated and thankfully accepted. May the Lord bless you for your generosity. Thanks in advance!
